Phantoma

Phantoma, or Ogon Bat as he is known in the original Japanese format, comes from the ancient civilisation of Atlantis. He was encased in a stone coffin within the ruins of the ancient deserted city (much like Adelaide on a Saturday night - international readers pls substitute a city or town you know)

A widowed archaeological Professor and his daughter Marie were searching for Atlantis when disaster struck the ship they were on and all hands and passengers aboard were lost.

Marie was the only survivor, luckily she was saved by Dr Steele, his son Terry & their sidekick Gabi in their white, flying type saucer.

Luckily, Marie had kept her father's diary, which detailed the location of Atlantis, so off they went to find it, but of course they found much more!

While Marie, Terry and Co were searching Atlantis, the worlds' greatest fiend Dr. Zero, was causing mayhem and destruction. He was also interested in the city or Marie's father's diary..

Marie and Co were searching the city for water as their flying saucer had developed some mechanical problem, (probably needed to top up the radiator).. when they found Phantoma's sarcophagus.

Doctor Steele was able to decipher the hieroglyphics on the casket, which warned that the Earth would one day face its deadliest peril ( Dr Zero ) and that a mystical superhero would be provided to protect the peoples of the Earth.

To cut a long story short, the Doctor had Gabi empty a bucket of water into Phantoma's sarcophagus and brought him back to life. This was pretty lucky for Marie and her friends as Dr Zero's latest invention a giant mechanical hand was about to kill them all! Phantoma of course saved the day.

So began the adventures of Terry, Marie, Doctor Steele  & Gabi the comedy sidekick as they managed to blunder into Dr Zero's daily attempts to takeover the world.

Pictures

Dr Zero and his right hand man Gorgo, planning Phantoma's destruction. A right hand man is essential when your left hand is a metal claw.

Dr Zero was human with some major surgical alterations. He was able to dream as was shown on one of the episodes.

Each of Dr Zero's eyes could emit a different type of death ray (a very useful attribute) Many of his lackeys tasted the death rays first hand when they failed their master's bidding. Dr Zero was NOT the forgiving type!

The Good Guys

Here are Terry, Gabi, Marie & Terry's father Dr Steele, the eminent scientist. Together they travelled the world in the Doctors' flying saucer uncovering Dr Zero's plans for world domination.

Thanks to Ricardo Rodriguz for supplying the names of Gabi & Dr Steele

How to Summon Phantoma

First of all, get yourself into all sorts of trouble by annoying Dr Zero, then just before you and your friends are killed call Phantoma by closing your eyes, holding your hands together in the prayer position and say "Please help us little golden bat".

Of course you must have Marie with you otherwise the above incantation wont work!
